Offering natural-looking dental implants for his El Paso patients
If you are missing one or more teeth, you'll want replacements that are as natural as possible. If custom dentures won't work for you, you may want to consider dental implants. Unlike dentures, which can be removed, dental implants are permanently anchored into the jaw itself. With a perfect fit created by Dr. Rizk, these dental implants offer El Paso patients the look and feel of natural teeth, with a functional and cosmetic result that is beyond compare!
Losing a tooth by accident or by extraction is not the end of the matter. When a tooth is missing, the resulting gap will allow nearby teeth to tilt or drift from their normal position, and the teeth above the gap will move downward. Aside from the obvious cosmetic problem, the changed positions of these teeth can lead to severe bite problems causing jaw pain and headaches. Any missing teeth should be immediately replaced to keep other teeth in their normal position.
To qualify for implants, you'll need healthy oral tissues and jawbone ridges that are in good shape. If you would like more information about dental implants and you live in the El Paso area, contact Dr. David Rizk and find out whether you are a good candidate for restorative dentistry
Dental crowns – Solutions for injured teeth
Also referred to as caps, dental crowns offer El Paso patients a natural-looking cover that conceals cracked, discolored, or badly injured teeth. If a tooth is decayed enough that it cannot hold a traditional filling, or is cracking down into the root, a dental crown can fit closely at the gum and protect what remains of the natural tooth. Dental crowns can improve the appearance of a smile while at the same time protecting teeth from further injury. Contact our office for further information about dental crowns, or read more about porcelain dental crowns offered at the El Paso office of Dr. David Rizk.
Smile makeovers with dental bonding
Dental bonding is an affordable, quick and painless way to repair cosmetic flaws or injuries to teeth. Dr. Rizk uses dental bonding techniques to paint individual teeth with a special material that looks, acts, and feels like the real thing. Bonding by Dr. Rizk is typically painless and can yield dramatic results in a single office visit. Essentially, bonding hides natural flaws with the placement of a thin plastic coating on the front surface of teeth. After treating the surface of the tooth, Dr. Rizk applies a puttylike material that is then sculpted, shaped and colored to suit your needs. A high-intensity light causes the plastic to harden after which the new surface is smoothed and polished.
Bonding can lighten stains, close gaps, and even straighten crooked or malformed teeth. We can change the shape or color of a single tooth with dental bonding, or even remake your entire smile. Dr. Rizk now offers sedation dentistry to El Paso area patients
Once you've experienced sedation dentistry with Dr. Rizk at his El Paso practice, you'll never be afraid to go to the dentist again. You'll be sedated just enough to be unaware of the treatment. It will be as if you were relaxing. You'll wake up refreshed, with little or no memory of what was accomplished. And because you are completely comfortable, Dr. Rizk can squeeze in years of dental treatments in as little as one or two visits.
Sedation dentistry for our El Paso patients begins with a small pill taken an hour prior to the scheduled dental appointment. A companion will bring you to the office. At the office, you will be escorted into the comfort room, covered with a warm blanket, and placed on a monitor to watch your vital signs. After you are made comfortable by our friendly staff, Dr. Rizk and his dental team will take care of your dental needs.
If you suffer from traumatic dental experiences, very sensitive teeth, complex dental problems, fears of needles and shots, or if you just have a limited time to complete dental care, sedation dentistry may be the right option for you.

TMJ disorders – Jaw and facial pain
TMJ disorder describes a variety of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint (the point where the jaw opens and closes) and nerves related to chronic facial pain. These problems can now be thoroughly diagnosed and treated by Dr. Rizk, and symptoms can be eliminated or reduced. Postponement of treatment usually results in more damage to the joint, muscles, or teeth, so proper diagnosis is critical to make sure patients receive treatment for their particular condition. Dr. Rizk will only recommend treatment after conducting a thorough health history analysis and clinical exam, taking appropriate X-rays, and perhaps confirming the condition through other diagnostic tests. TMJ treatment may be simple or require more steps for alleviating the condition depending on the degree of severity.
While the exact cause of a TMJ disorder is unknown, some contributing factors can include an improper bite, injury, arthritis, stress, or bruxism (grinding or clenching of the teeth). Symptoms of TMJ can vary from head and neck aches to popping or clicking when you open your mouth. Dr. Rizk prescribes treatments for TMJ disorders ranging from stress management techniques to bite guards and muscle relaxers. A thorough dental exam will reveal the problem and direct Dr. Rizk’s treatment.
Restorative dentistry technology
With one of the most technologically advanced offices in El Paso, Dr. David Rizk is able to offer laser dentistry to re-contour gum tissue and perform endodontic treatment. In most cases, these laser treatments can eliminate the need for advanced reconstructive surgery and treat cavities, tooth decay, and periodontal problems all while maximizing patient comfort.
With the development of the intraoral camera, Dr. Rizk can now identify and diagnose most gum and tooth problems early on in patient consultations. The tiny intraoral camera can be inserted into a patient's mouth, taking pictures of the teeth and displaying the images on a computer screen. Using the intraoral camera saves time and makes problems easily visible to both patient and doctor. Patients can view the areas Dr. Rizk will be working on, making procedures more understandable. Coupled with state of the art computer imaging that allows patients to see future results before they begin their course of treatment, Dr. Rizk now offers the latest in cutting edge technology, ensuring patients the most dramatic results possible.
