The Gateway to Great Dental Health

At the office of Dr. David M. Rizk, we enjoy getting to know our patients, but that’s not the only reason we want you to come back for regular appointments. We believe that general dentistry is the gateway to great dental health. From comprehensive exams to emergency care, we’re here to help you keep your smile in top shape.

Comprehensive Exams

If you have a great grin, Dr. Rizk and his team are committed to helping you keep it that way through regular, comprehensive exams. One of our highly-trained hygienists will see you first for a thorough cleaning, periodontal check, and x-rays. Since you’ve already made yourself comfortable in one of our Tempur-Pedic exam chairs, Dr. Rizk will come to you. The dentist will conduct a full exam, including a TMJ evaluation, oral cancer screening, cavity evaluation, and a periodontal review. If Dr. Rizk finds a problem, he’ll schedule another appointment to provide the additional care you require.

Oral Cancer Screenings

As part of each exam, Dr. Rizk will conduct a visual and manual check for signs of oral cancer. These signs may include unexplained pain, swelling, sores, numbness, or bleeding. By being proactive and discovering any potential problems as soon as possible, we’ll be able to see you smile for a very long time.

X-Rays

At the office of Dr. Rizk, we want to make sure we get the full picture of what’s going on with your dental health. We use digital x-rays, panoramic x-rays, and an iCAT CT scanner, depending on your individual needs. By using the most advanced x-ray equipment available, we expose you to minimal radiation while getting the visual information we need instantly to decide on a treatment plan. Whether you’re in for a regular check-up, cosmetic dentistry, or implants, our x-ray equipment will provide a picture that’s worth a thousand words and more than a few smiles.

Hygiene

Though Dr. Rizk is here to help you with a full range of dental needs, we believe good dental health starts with good dental hygiene. Our experienced hygienists will use the Cavitron, employing high-speed rotations and sound waves, to deep-clean your teeth. They may also work with the Piezo ultrasonic technology as part of the cleaning routine. We can help you continue with excellent oral hygiene at home with Peridex, a prescription-only oral rinse which decreases bacteria levels and reduces redness, swelling, and bleeding caused by gum disease. Clean teeth and gums are the gateway to your best dental health.

Periodontal Therapy

If you have unexplained bad breath, gums that are sore, swollen, or bleeding, or teeth that are loose or shifting, you may be experiencing gum disease. Without proper treatment, these problems can lead to more serious dental issues requiring extensive restorative work. At the office of Dr. Rizk, our talented team not only provides a full periodontal check at each appointment, they are all laser certified as well. That means that if we do discover gum disease, we can use laser technology to access the bacteria causing the problem. We also use PerioSciences, a line of products containing natural ingredients which engage your mouth’s own antioxidants to act as a tool for good dental hygiene.

Fluoride Treatments

We’re very experienced when it comes to dealing with even the most severe dental health issues, but why not do our best to prevent problems before they start? Each time you visit Dr. Rizk for a checkup, you can expect to receive a fluoride treatment.

Mouthguards

A headache, unexplained pain in your jaw, or loose or painful teeth can all be symptoms of grinding your teeth. Also known as bruxism, grinding of teeth often occurs during sleep and you may not even be aware of the habit. Dr. Rizk can help protect you from the cosmetic and structural damage caused when you grind your teeth by prescribing a custom-made mouthguard. The mouthguard will give you a break from the grind, let you sleep well, and wake without pain.

Anesthesia

At the office of Dr. Rizk, we’re concerned with keeping you comfortable while you receive the finest in dental care. We offer oral sedation, nitrous oxide, and local anesthetic. We’ll discuss the options with you and decide together on the best choice of anesthesia for your course of treatment.

Sleep Apnea

Most of us feel a little tired sometimes, but if you often wake up feeling like you haven’t slept at all, you may be suffering from sleep apnea. In obstructive sleep apnea, your tongue or your tissues block your airway, limiting oxygen intake, and disrupting your sleep. Feeling groggy is tough enough, but if left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to serious medical issues affecting your blood pressure and heart health. As part of our holistic approach to patient care, the team at the office of Dr. Rizk can help diagnose sleep apnea. We offer both in-house and home testing. Once we get the results, we can treat mild to moderate cases using a SomnoMed device (similar to a mouthguard) to change the resting position of your mouth, leaving your airway clear. For more severe cases, we will refer you to a sleep center for additional treatment. We want you to rest well and have sweet dreams so you can keep showing off that stunning smile.

Emergency Care

Dr. Rizk and his team like to stay on schedule, but we’re available for your emergency needs. If you have an unexpected dental issue, please call right away and we’ll get you in and treated as soon as possible, often on the same day.
